Bring Your Organization into our Field of Membership

We are looking for more organizations to join the field of membership of our proposed federal credit union. New organizations can be associational common bonds or occupational common bonds. All of the members of associational common bonds and all the employees and contractors of an associational common bond will be eligible for primary membership. In both cases their immediate families will also be eligible to join the credit union.

Only three documents are required from the NCUA to approve a common bonds inclusion into the field of membership of the credit union. Each of which can be sent directly to the NCUA representative for review at newfcu@ncua.org or to us so we can forward it.

  1. Formal “Declaration of Interest” letter to the NCUA giving permission for their organization to be part of the field of membership of the credit union. This must be signed by a leader of the organization that is recognized by the Bylaws including chairman of the board, president or CEO.
  2. Government Registration – this could be a certificate of incorporation or articles of incorporation stamped with government approval. We can find this online for your organization in most cases.
  3. Bylaws or other rules for how the organization is structured – some organizations like religious congregations are not required to submit this document.

The NCUA will review these documents before approving the organizations inclusion in the field of membership of our proposed credit union.

After that the only thing the organization has to do to join the the common bond is to send out a survey to their membership – which we will make available at survey.communitychest.io or another subdomain if the organization requests it.

Please reach out to info@communitychest.io if you know an organization that might be interested in joining our field of membership.

Community Chest Proposed Federal Credit Union is in Phase 1 of the NCUA’s chartering process. It is distinct from communitychest.io which offers free and open source software for all credit unions and other depository institutions to use.
